Nawaz’s party to contest the Pakistan general election 2008
Nawaz Sharif, the former premier of Pakistan, said in a press conference that the Pakistan People’s Party had decided to contest the upcoming Pakistan general election for the sake of democracy and hinted at forming a coalition government with PPP. Nawaz Sharif had earlier decided to boycott the Pakistan elections 2008 to express solidarity with the PPP over the brutal murder of Benazir Bhutto. On Monday sharif announced that he would contest the Pakistan election 2008 as the PPP has decided to contest. Holding Musharraf responsible for the chaos in Pakistan sharif demanded his resignation. Nawaz Sharif complained election commission of not playing effective role to ensure transparent elections and called for setting up a national government to hold free and fair elections.
